Welcome to our church
We are a warm and friendly church with a really diverse congregation in every way imaginable.
We try to root our lives in the example of Jesus’ life and teaching. He was a healer, a liberator, on the side of the poor and downtrodden. We seek to be a community like that.
Christians believe he is the Son of God. We have hope, faith and love…. as well as doubt, anger and questions. It is this faith that compels us to show compassion and to work for justice in our communities and networks.
The world is gathered here and everyone can feel at home. On any given Sunday we might have at least a dozen nationalities and 20 languages represented. This global aspect enriches our worship, broadens our experiences and helps us to want to make the world a better place – locally and globally.
A place for everyone
All kinds of people come to St Catherine’s. Believers, doubters, agnostics, seekers, atheists, new Christians, and those who’ve been practising all their lives. We want people to have space to be on their own spiritual journey, to share their own perspectives and work out their faith. We want to be a place where people encounter God and feel part of a vibrant, loving community.
A place for all ages and all stages
However you fit, or don’t, there is space for you here. Our church is made up of people who are single, partnered, widowed, married or divorced; people who are straight or LGBT; families of all kinds, children of all ages – all are welcome. We strive to be accessible to people with different needs including those with disabilities and mental health issues, autism and dementia.
We’d love to see you one Sunday.
Pastoral Care
The Pastoral Care Team (Sheridan James, Jane Elliott, Lesley Marshall, Ann Atkins, Andrew Baars, Helen Bond, Peter Ryan, and Colleen Sheldon) are in contact with around 20 people. I know that informally many more people are being kept in contact with via various WhatsApp Groups and friendship networks. The Pastoral Care Team will be making regular phone calls and contact with people who are on our vulnerable list. If you would like more regular contact, please get in touch with us or if you are concerned about anyone, please email stcatherinehatcham@gmail.com.
